Property Law
On the Relationship of Property to Those Who Possess It)

Life lesson: The king's domain and the fiefs he grants to his nobles — these obey their own laws. Henry dates his edicts from independence, not from any European calendar. The kingdom's property regime begins at sovereignty.
Notes: Royal domain governed by special laws. Fiefs to kingdom dignitaries — a feudal system unique in the Americas — alienable only per royal edicts of 5 April and 3 May 1811 (Year 8 of independence). Dating from independence underscores Haitian sovereignty.
