Le père, ou la mère à défaut du père, peut émanciper le mineur non marié, lorsqu'il est parvenu à l'âge de quinze ans révolus ; et ce par le seul fait de la déclaration devant le sénéchal, assisté de son greffier, qui en dressera acte.

Life lesson: At fifteen, a parent's word before the seneschal sets a child free. Emancipation is as simple as a declaration — and as weighty.
Notes: Parental emancipation at age 15+. Father first, mother in father's absence. Simple declaration before seneschal — no family-council approval needed. Minimal formality reflects parental authority.
