Quoique la mère ne soit pas tenue d'accepter la tutelle, elle est obligée d'en remplir religieusement tous les devoirs, jusqu'à ce qu'elle ait fait procéder à la nomination d'un tuteur.
Life lesson:
A mother may refuse the burden of guardianship — but she may not abandon the child while she does so.
Notes:
Mother's right to decline guardianship, coupled with interim duty to perform all guardian functions until a replacement is appointed. No gap in protection for the child.
