Chapitre I: Du Gage (On Pledge)

Le gage n'étant qu'un dépôt assurant le privilège du créancier, le débiteur en reste toujours propriétaire jusqu'à ce qu'il en soit exproprié.

Life lesson: The debtor keeps ownership of the pledge — the creditor just holds it as security until a court says otherwise.
Notes: Debtor retains ownership: pledge is possessory security, not transfer of title. Expropriation (judicial sale) required to divest.
