Titre XXIX: Des Transactions (On Settlements)

La transaction sur un procès jugé à l'insu des parties, est valable, si le jugement est susceptible d'appel ; mais elle sera nulle, s'il est sans appel, ou passé en force de chose jugée.

Life lesson: Settle a case that was secretly decided? Valid if the judgment can still be appealed — void if it's final.
Notes: Settlement after unknown judgment: valid if judgment appealable; null if final/res judicata. Protects party who settled without knowing outcome.
