Family Law

Life lesson: A child may not leave home without the father's word — but the kingdom's call overrides even a father's authority.
Notes: Father's permission required to leave home. Single exception: service of the kingdom (military, state service). The state's claim on the child's loyalty trumps even paternal authority — a distinctly Henrician provision reflecting the monarchy's manpower needs.
