Les intérêts des sommes dont le mandataire est reliquataire, courent du jour qu'il a été mis en demeure de les payer, et l'intérêt des sommes qu'il aurait employées à son usage, du jour de l'emploi qu'il en a fait.

Life lesson: Interest on what you owe the principal runs from formal demand — but on money you pocketed for yourself, from the day you took it.
Notes: Interest on mandatary's debts: balance → from mise en demeure; misappropriated funds → from date of use. Stricter for self-dealing.
