Tout mandataire est responsable de la fraude et des fautes qu'il commet dans la gestion de l'affaire dont il est chargé ; mais celui qui gère gratuitement, y est moins rigoureusement assujetti que celui qui est salarié.

Life lesson: Every agent answers for fraud and faults — but unpaid agents get a lighter standard than paid ones.
Notes: Graduated liability: paid mandatary → stricter standard; gratuitous → more lenient. Both liable for fraud absolutely.
