Titre VIII: De la Puissance paternelle (On Paternal Authority)

L'enfant, jusqu'à l'époque de sa majorité ou de son émancipation, reste immédiatement placé sous l'autorité de ses père et mère.

Life lesson: The child belongs to the authority of its parents until the law says otherwise. Majority or emancipation — these are the only exits.
Notes: Parental authority extends until majority or emancipation. Both parents hold authority jointly (during the father's lifetime, Art. 135 clarifies the father exercises it). No intermediate status or graduated release.
