Chapitre II: Du Prêt de consommation ou simple Prêt (On the Loan for Consumption or Simple Loan)

Avant le terme fixé par la convention pour rendre le prêt, le prêteur ne pourra en demander la remise ; mais si le contrat n'a pas déterminé le terme, le juge, suivant les circonstances, pourra accorder un délai à l'emprunteur pour se libérer.

Life lesson: The lender must wait until the agreed deadline — and if none was set, the judge decides a reasonable timeframe for repayment.
Notes: Lender bound by agreed term: no early recall. No term set → judicial determination of repayment period. Protects borrower from demand loans without notice.
