Pour être habile à jouir des bienfaits de l'adoption, il faut être majeur, et l'on est toujours tenu, dans ce cas, de requérir le conseil de ses père et mère.

Life lesson: Only an adult may be adopted — and even then, the natural parents must be consulted. Adoption adds a family; it does not erase one.
Notes: Adoptee must be of legal age — no minor adoptions under this chapter (official guardianship covers minors). Natural parents must be consulted even for adult adoptees. Adoption supplements rather than replaces the birth family.
