Le préciput est un avantage porté au contrat de mariage, au profit du survivant des époux, à prendre sur les biens de la communauté, soit d'une certaine somme, ou d'une certaine quantité d'effets mobiliers en nature.

Life lesson: The préciput lets the surviving spouse take a designated amount off the top of the community before partition.
